Post Graduation

 The M.Sc Course in Physics was started in the Department of Physics, Karnatak Science College, Dharwad from 2011-12. The Course follows a Semester Scheme. The M.Sc Course is run with the academic leadership of the Head of the Department of Physics, KCD (Dr. Blaise Lobo at present, up to July 2012). All permanent faculty members of the Department of Physics, KCD handle both theory and practical classes for M.Sc Physics. Project work in the fourth semester will be handled by (guided by) the Associate Professors in the Department. At present, Nuclear Physics is offered as a Specialization for the third and fourth semesters of the course. In addition to permanent faculty in the Department, four teaching assistants have been employed on full time basis to run the course. At present, the Course is operated on Self-Finance Basis. The annual fees is of the order of Rs 75,000/- only (per student). The admission procedure is taken care of by the Karnatak University. The students will have to apply as usual in the PG Department of Physics, Pavatenagar, for admission. Seats in our department will be allotted by the Chairperson of the PG Department at Pavatenagar on the basis of merit, roster & finally, counselling.

 

The PG Course (M.Sc) in General Chemistry is presently offered at Karnatak Science College, Dharwad. Presently, Dr. Vidya Aminabhavi is the Coordinator of the Course. Dr. Mallur, Retired Professor of Chemistry from KUD has recently been appointed as the Chief Coordinator for PG Science Courses. There are 20 seats for M.Sc Chemistry (there are 30 seats offered in each semester for M.Sc Physics whereas 50 seats are offered per semester for M.Sc Mathematics). All courses are self-financed. There are a few Teaching Assistants & Guest Faculty involved in teaching M.Sc Chemistry. Students are encouraged to take up extra-curricular activities and participate in workshops.

Governing Council

The college has a governing council is headed by the Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, Syndicate Members, two staff members of the college and the Principal as secretary. It guides and regulates all the activities of the college.
