Karnatak Science College, Dharwad



The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1961 with a modest faculty. Over the last 50 years the Department has grown into a major centre of teaching and learning for both Science and Social Science courses. In addition, the Department is actively engaged in Research by publishing papers, guiding student and carrying out Research Projects funded by UGC and other agencies.   At present there are seven highly qualified staff members of whom 4 are having Ph.D. degrees and remaining having M.Phil Degrees. The Department has well equipped computer laboratory. There are two other laboratories and each of them can accommodate about 20 students. Alumni of our department are working in reputed Universities, Research Centers,  IT & BT Sectors and Government Organizations in India and abroad. Mr. Girish Karnad the well-known playwright, essayist and recipient of Jnanapeeth award is an alumnus of this Department

Semester System

Semester system for undergraduate students has been introduced to make their education to go hand in hand with the prevailing social, cultural, economic and technological environment. The courses are designed based on the needs of society in general.

Governing Council

The college has a governing council is headed by the Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, Syndicate Members, two staff members of the college and the Principal as secretary. It guides and regulates all the activities of the college.
